You’re primarily familiar with our RECARO Exo as a gaming chair, but it’s also perfect for use in the office or home office. On the one hand, we use the Exo ourselves in the office, but our seat is also a tested and certified office chair according to DIN standards. But what does that actually mean and what ultimately makes the Exo a true office and gaming chair? We provide you with the answers in the following article.
Perfect for use in the office or home office
The RECARO Exo meets several DIN standards, including DIN EN 1335-1 as an office work chair, which means real advantages for you, as confirmed by TÜV Rheinland. First and foremost, it’s about safety. Being able to adjust a backrest to what feels like the most impossible angles may look fun and be cool at first glance, but it also poses a safety risk. Since we at RECARO are not only interested in great design, but also in quality, functionality, and safety, it would be unthinkable for us to deliver a seat with such injury risks.
In addition to safety, health protection in the workplace and at home plays an important role for certification as an office chair. But support for the thighs and lumbar region, with sufficient height and depth, must also be provided. The standard also includes many other aspects, including minimum values for seat width, seat surface inclination, and seat surface depth.
Certified safety for the office chair
Armrests and safety values play another role in the DIN standard for office chairs, because after all, many of us spend a lot of time in offices, home offices or at home in front of the computer. In addition to DIN EN 1335-1, the RECARO Exo also complies with the DIN EN 1335-2 standard, which deals, among other things, with points such as corners, edges and gaps in order to minimise the risk of injury to the user. Likewise, seats must be able to withstand eight hours of daily use by people of a certain weight without any problems in order to receive this certification.
Our RECARO Exo is certified for a maximum load of 150 kg according to E DIN 4573. In addition to certification and testing by TÜV Rheinland, the RECARO Exo also bears the GS mark for tested safety, verified by an independent body.

The RECARO Exo has a range of adjustment options that are extremely useful in everyday office life as well as for gaming.
