Year in review: What happened at RECARO Gaming in 2020

A more than unusual year is drawing to a close, and 2020 was also a special year for RECARO Gaming in many respects, characterized by the coronavirus and many new challenges. We take a look back over the past twelve months with you, and ahead to what awaits us in the coming year.

Time for a move

For RECARO Gaming, 2020 began with a move to a new office with much more space. There were more rooms for small and large meetings, retreats, space for breaks, for collecting ideas, and product development. The team has grown steadily since then in order to be able to devote itself in the best possible way to the diverse new tasks that have materialized and that are in the pipeline for 2021.

We had many plans for the office, as well as for events and trade fairs, but then everything turned out differently than expected.

The pandemic changes the world

No one could have foreseen the things that would affect us all this year; Covid-19 changed the lives of us all, and it also changed the business of RECARO Gaming. The hours in the new office were reduced, plans for events, trade fairs, and our own showroom had to be shelved, shifted, and in some cases completely canceled.

The RECARO Exo also cuts a fine figure in the office

At the same time, business had to continue as usual, which was made possible by planning with different groups in the office and working from home as an alternative. Working from home is a good keyword here, because the coronavirus has had an impact not only on RECARO Gaming, but all of us. The need for ergonomic and comfortable seating in the home office increased rapidly.

Digital meetings instead of crowds

But the coronavirus also had an impact on the event and trade fair industry. The last major event for RECARO Gaming was Retro Classics in Stuttgart. Long-planned events with the participation of RECARO were first postponed a short time later, and then canceled altogether or converted into digital events. This was also the case with Gamescom 2020, which was normally all about exchanging ideas with you, answering questions, and having the opportunity to check out the latest news and test the seat.

Gamescom 2020 only took place in digital form, so unfortunately we had to do without our face-to-face meetings this year.

But we also made the best we could out of these situations. Seat tests were made possible without further ado through our hygiene concept and appointments in the new office, and the digital Gamescom was packed full of action and exciting streams.

What happened at RECARO Gaming in 2020

Over the course of the year, we were nevertheless able to present you with various news, and organized many campaigns. RECARO also continued to be heavily involved in the topic of eSports; in addition to existing partnerships, we added our cooperation with Ubisoft in 2020 for the Rainbow Six Siege GSA League 2020, as well as our cooperation with the ESL.

At Retro Classics from the end of February to the beginning of March 2020, we showed the Exo in Lava Red and the final Exo Platinum Black & White for the first time. There was also an early prototype of a sim racing kit to admire.

At Retro Classics at the end of February 2020, we were once again able to showcase innovations and even welcome real stars to our booth, such as rally legend Walter Röhrl.

Together with the eSports team No Limit Gaming, which we sponsor, we launched our Performance Academy series in May. Over several weeks, we showed you weekly videos on our social media channels on how you can ideally prepare for competitions with the right nutrition and exercise.

Lots of new color versions

Also at the beginning of May, the Exo Platinum Black & White was launched, quickly becoming one of the favorites in our portfolio.

This was later followed by the new color versions Sunset Orange and Lime Green for the Exo and Exo FX, as well as the revised return of the blue and gray model. At the end of the year, our special offer was followed by the temporarily available RECARO Exo All Black Edition. This model at a great price once again exceeded all our expectations. Finally, in December, we released our comfort accessory: the RECARO neck rest.

The highlight of the promotions came at the end of November, with the limited All Black Edition of the RECARO Exo.

All of this was just a small part of the activities, specials, and features that were held in 2020. Competitions, tests together with the community, Q&A sessions, and much more rounded off this exciting year. We hope that we will be able to get in touch with you more directly again in the course of the coming year, at selected trade fairs such as Gamescom 2021. Because one thing is certain: we are just getting started and many surprises await you next year.

We wish you all a great end of the year, relaxing holidays, and above all, health and a good start to the new year!
